How to use the Kai Seki Magoroku Flattening Stone

Use a pencil to mark the places you need to flatten on the sharpening stone, and make sure both stones are wet. Place the sharpening stone on a flat surface and place the flattening stone on top. Make circular motions with the flattening stone so the entire surface is treated evenly. The sharpening stone will be successfully levelled when all pencil markings have completely disappeared.
